Notes to help your Volunteer work experience go smoothly:

1. Please be prompt.  Arrive a few minutes early and be ready to spring into action when your shift starts. Another volunteer may be waiting for you to arrive so that they can turn their duties over to you. We are all counting on your prompt arrival to make the transition between work shifts smooth.

2. Personal belongings.  We do not recommend that you bring anything of value into the sale building. Bring only those things that you need and can carry with you: cell phone, keys, etc. (Our Volunteer aprons do have large pockets which fit a cell phone & keys well.) If you must bring your purse, we suggest you leave it hidden and locked in the car. We are unable to watch or secure your valuables.

3. Be sure to sign-in & sign-out!  The volunteer sign-in sheets are what we use to verify that you did indeed complete your work shifts. Be sure to always sign-in and sign-out at the info desk in the back of the building.

4. What you should wear.  Dress comfortably. Wear comfortable shoes, you will be on your feet! Volunteers working during actual sale hours will be asked to wear one of our blue aprons so that you are easily identified by shoppers

5. Job assignments.  After you sign-in you will receive your job assignment.  Listen carefully and ask questions if anything is unclear.

If you are working BEFORE the sale starts, you will likely be helping us organize items as the consignors bring them to the sale site.

If you are working DURING the sale, you will likely be helping keep the sales area neat & organized and assisting customers.

If you are working AFTER the sale ends, you will likely be helping organize leftover items to be donated or to be picked up by consignors.

6. Shopping while working your shift.  While this is tempting, we ask that you do not shop while working. We can not hold items for you. We are counting on you to concentrate on your work duties during your scheduled shift. You are welcome to shop before or after your work shift.

7. Light snacks are provided for volunteers while they are working. This is usually water, crackers, granola bars, etc. Please plan your regular meals for hours outside of your work shift. (If you have scheduled yourself for two shifts in a row, plan on taking a short break for lunch/dinner. There is a Mcdonalds, Taco Bell/Pizza Hut, and deli in the next shopping plaza over.)

8. Restrooms: Please note, the building where we are holding our spring sale does not have usable restrooms. There will be port-a-potties and a wash sink located right outside our front doors for your use.

9. Missed work shifts.  IMPORTANT: Volunteers that do not fulfill their shift obligations (or send a comparable replacement), forfeit their right to participate as a volunteer in the future and to attend future Stork Lady volunteer pre-sale events.

Please consider the benefits you receive in exchange for volunteering as well as the importance of following through, when you commit to a volunteer shift. We are really depending on you!

10. Please leave the kids at home when you come to fulfill your work obligation. We are unable to provide childcare and you will be unable to supervise your children well while working.

SUGGESTION:  We have many volunteers that team up with a friend: One watches the kids while the other works a shift - and vice versa.  Works out great and they each earn a pass so they can have fun shopping the presale together!

We hope to make your work experience pleasant & enjoyable - while still getting the job done.

We look forward to having you join us!

Notes to help your Volunteer *SHOPPING* experience go smoothly:

1. We reserve
Tuesday night, March 20th as a benefit and private shopping night for our Volunteers ONLY.

Everyone who enters the Volunteer presale on Tuesday March 20th *must* be wearing the appropriately colored wristband pass.

(EXCEPTION: You may bring your husband/boyfriend/significant-other to help carry things - no grandmas, friends, etc, because we do not know whose children they are shopping for.  We assume your husband/boyfriend/significant-other is shopping for the same kids as you - your own. This helps ensure that we keep this time as a private shopping time for the children of our Volunteers.)

We love to have grandmas, sisters and friends shop too - simply have them sign up for their own Volunteer shift and they can earn a pass as well.

Volunteers who work three shifts, may enter the presale at 4:00pm.
Volunteers who work two shifts, may enter the presale at 5:00pm.
Volunteers who work one shift, may enter the presale at 6:30pm.

If you are a CONSIGNOR, you will receive your wristband passes when you drop off your items for sale.

If you are NOT A CONSIGNOR, you will receive your wristband passes when you come to shop on Tuesday night.

2. We reserve Saturday morning, March 24th between 9am and 10am as a benefit and private shopping time for our Volunteers & Consignors ONLY.

Everyone who enters the 50% OFF Volunteer & Consignor presale on Saturday, March 24th between 9am and 10am  *must* be wearing the appropriately colored wristband pass.

(EXCEPTION: You may bring your husband/boyfriend/significant-other to help carry things - no grandmas, friends, etc, because we do not know whose children they are shopping for.  We assume your husband/boyfriend/significant-other is shopping for the same kids as you - your own. This helps ensure that we keep this time as a private shopping time for the children of our Volunteers and Consignors only.)

We love to have grandmas, sisters and friends shop too - simply have them sign up for their own volunteer shift and they can earn a pass as well.

3. Allow enough time to shop through all the treasures.

The sale has grown QUITE LARGE - it will take awhile to look through everything and get through the checkout area.

When you shop Tuesday night, you will be shopping at the start of the sale when the building is FULLY LOADED so there will be A LOT of goodies to look through!!

Please consider leaving the kids at home. If you must bring a stroller, please use the umbrella-type. Large strollers block aisles for other shoppers. Thank you!

4. Bring something to help you carry your items.  A rolling cart, laundry basket or large reusable bag works well.

5. Stick a pen in your purse so that you can write your name, etc on our LARGE ITEM hold tickets.

Larger sized items will have hold tickets on them - there is a spot to write in your name, phone #, date/time. After filling in the info, remove the barcode tag & stub from the bottom of the hold ticket.  You will use this stub to pay for the item when you checkout.

After you checkout, go back & get the large item from the sales floor, show your stub marked "PAID" at the exit door and take the item out to your car.

*** YOU MUST WRITE YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER AND THE TIME ON THE HOLD TAG TO "HOLD" AND TO PAY FOR THE ITEM.

NO NAME = NO HOLD, so bring a pen!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP AS A VOLUNTEER !

The sale at this size would not be able to continue without your help, we REALLY REALLY appreciate it!
